GSDM WOMEN’S EMPLOYEE PICNIC PROMOTES EMPOWERMENT AND WELLNESS

ERMELO, MPUMALANGA – 15 August 2025 at A.J. Swanepoel Stadium– The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) hosted a vibrant Women’s Employee Picnic on 15 August 2025 at the AJ Swanepoel Stadium in Ermelo, bringing together women employees, councillors, and wellness professionals for a day dedicated to empowerment, sisterhood, and health awareness this women’s month.
Themed “Be Your Sister’s Keeper,” the event created a safe and supportive space for women to reflect on their collective strength, share knowledge, and celebrate their role in shaping both the workplace and the broader community. Women employees arrived with picnic baskets in hand, transforming the stadium into a lively setting of fellowship, laughter, and meaningful conversations.

As part of GSDM’s broader employee wellness programme, the event also provided health-focused engagements. Representatives from a local clinic shared an informative presentation on medical issues, followed by a dynamic question-and-answer session. In addition, other stakeholders were available to share their services such as medical aid and financial institutions and others, such as the Clicks Clinic team, led by Nurse Puleng Lelefa, which was onsite to provide health services, further underscoring the municipality’s dedication to the well-being of its workforce.
Speaking after the event, municipal leadership reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to creating platforms where women can grow, connect, and be inspired to reach their full potential. The Women’s Employee Picnic was not only a celebration of Women’s Month but also a clear demonstration of GSDM’s values of care, empowerment, and community building.
